Ignorance is not an acceptable excuse for conduct that results in harassment.
Scope
The Web3athon Code of Conduct applies to all event attendees, partners, sponsors, exhibitors, media, and representatives of Web3athon, paid or unpaid (referred to hereafter as “representatives”), in any context in which a reasonable observer might deem the individual to be acting as an agent, participant, or representative of Web3athon. This includes, but is not limited to, events, streams, competitions, emails, instant messaging, articles, blogs, forums, and comments on news articles and social media platforms.
This code is an extension of the values of the Crypto Research and Design Lab, and takes heavy inspiration from the Distributed Camp code of conduct, at times we straight up copied the text because it was so good..
Reporting
- If you experience or see any violations of this code of conduct in any of your interactions while at Web3athon, please #create-a-ticket in Discord under the❓Support Category. Please provide the discord username of the person you are reporting, with a brief explanation of the incident. Our goal is to make Web3athon a safe place for everyone to explore the potential of Blockchain.
Guidelines
- Outcomes over intentions: it doesn't matter if your intent was "good" if the outcome was hurtful, dangerous etc. - it's not ok.
- Ignorance is not an acceptable excuse for conduct that results in harassment.
Expected Behavior
- We use thoughtful and deliberate language. Words become reality. Words bring our vision, mission, and value to life. Words reflect our understanding of the world and how we show up.
- With that, it is your choice to list your pronouns. We expect that everyone addresses people by the pronouns they have listed.
- We respect culture. Do not use culturally offensive language. Say “let’s have a meeting”, not “let’s pow wow.” Check out Self Defined for more opportunities for replacement language.
- Be considerate, respectful, and cooperative
- Do not engage in abuse of any kind. Abuse is: Disrespect for an individual’s views or identity, implied or enacted harm on your mental or physical self, or trolling, misdirection, and disrespectful use of resources and access.
